MLK on auto tune

Hey yo jesse jackson, put some t-pain on my shit.

Summer summer summer time

Its been in the mid to high 90's here for the last 3 days in a row, which has got the boy thinking its jersey time. I have always been pretty proud of my mean jersey game, but every summer means new jerseys. Along with this mattie and I have been collabing on some new sega genesis games, and figuring out our sneakers for the summer. The block will be hot this year, and that's a promise. Nike needs to make a pair of Toejam and Earl sb dunks. I can design em if that's what it takes. Sega x Nike x Champion ftw.

Sigur Ros x Mobb Deep

I just discovered a sick mash up of one of my all time favorite Mobb Deep songs from the classic "Infamous" album, with a Sigur Ros classic. While not quite as good as the Twista x Sigur Ros that Flosstradamus rocked, this one is still incredible. Official queens bridge murderers.

doing it b.i.g. in the v.i.p.

Last friday night we started off the weekend with the big bang theory, copping free box seat tickets to game 3 of the 76ers vs orlando magic first round playoff series. We couldn't have picked a better game to go to. Not only were the tickets free, but we got free t shirts, duffle bags, go 6ers posters, and I snagged a Thad Young player tee. The beauty of my pick up was that ultimately, Young would go on to score the game winning bucket in the last 2 seconds. Suck it orlando. It was easily the funnest basketball game I had ever been too. Cool bros, cool beers, cool babes, cool ballin. Without further adieu, a photo essay of the game.

Starting lineups

Free posters

Dwight somehow going 12/14 at the charity stripe while this was going on.

Either way it wasn't enough for the O town to pull it off, and it ended in absolute classic fashion. Good times in Philly.

C&H

One thing that has been gettin to me lately, is how many people have complained about my religious views on facebook. Yes I stated that all i need to know I learned from calvin and hobbes, the cartoon, not the philosophers. And no I didn't put christianity, or any other religion for that matter. Well the quick and easy response is that no, I'm not religious, but honestly the more I have contemplated the more I realized that calvin and hobbes really has had a huge impact on how I grew up. The lessons learned in that comic strip, for me, at least have been far more influential then the bible. Blasphemy I know, but let me explain.
For me, they way I have come to understand life, and living, and death, and everything in between is your experiences, and ultimately how your experiences make you who you are, and who you become. In essence, Truth, or just truth with out the capital t, is a collection of experiences, and the knowledge and wisdom gained by these experiences. These experiences can be anything and everything under the sun. From a great childhood memory, to a sad happening as an adult. From a comic book, to a Hemmingway novel, to the bible and elsewhere. From interactions with strangers, family, friends, teachers and children. All of these experiences are gathered up and compiled to make you who you are today. And for me, the most important thing, above anything and everything else, it is how you use these experiences and knowledge and life lessons to become a good person. Not a good person by the definitions of christianity or buddhism or religion, but a good person in your own heart. When you bypass all the blockades of lies and facades that we have created to make this costume of a person that we want people to think we are, but the deep down, nitty gritty of who you really are, in your heart of hearts. (whatever that means) It is how you shape and mold these experiences into your personality and into your everyday actions that is really the most important thing about being human.
For example, while I am not a Christian, or religious, I grew up in the church, and was raised by the church, and know odds and ends of Jesus' teachings, and tidbits of the bible. For me it is not important that you know every corner of the bible, so much as how you apply this knowledge of the bible into who you are as a person. You could be the greatest biblical scholar to ever live, but if you are a shitty person to the people and animals around you, it doesn't matter for spit.
But for me, it doesn't just stop at the bible. Everyone should be using their knowledge of life experiences to become the very best person they can be, with the utilities and advantages that they have.
So back to my mine point about my good buddies calvin and hobbes. For me, that comic strip is one of the most important influences on my childhood, and by default my adulthood. You can literally learn everything about life from those two characters. That comic literally had it all. Lessons on life, death, love, hate, friendship, growing up, being young, responsibility, having fun, imagination, the opposite of imagination, creativity, and so so so much more that I can't even begin to tread on. Calvin and Hobbes has been an extremely influential experience for me, in my life. But that is obviously not going to be the same for other people. I am going to go out on a limb by saying that the majority of the people who read this will probably site the bible or Jesus as their biggest influence. And that is great. I'm all for that. Christianity and Jesus have tought me a great deal about how to be a better person to the world around me, and how to be a better person to myself. But for me it is another lesson in the University of Life. And there are soooooo many other lessons and courses that are out there, that should be influential on everyone. People need to broaden their knowledge of the world around them. People, and myself included, need to further their knowledge of philosophy, literature, science, history and all of those subjects, but there are so many more subjects to be Studied. Friendship, or relationships with people, and animals in general, family, nature, imagination, etc. etc. etc. I feel like at this point you probably get where I'm going wit this.
So before you get all uppity about my religious views on facebook (not the end all be all of who I am, facebook that is) try and consider my point of view. I definitely feel that if people were molding their personality and life around all of their experiences, not just the "Christian one", there could be so much potential for what this world has to offer. Mix a little Tolstoy with some Bill Watterson. Read some Psalms followed by some Tom and Jerry. Go to church then go play outside. Enjoy youth group but then go kick it with your homies. Sing a gospel song, but then rap your favorite Biggie smalls line, then mellow out to some Sigur Ros or Mum. All of bands, and books, and authors and cartoons, and sermons have something to say about the life experience. And in the end all of these experiences influence who you are. It's up to you to shape how they make you as a person. Hakuna Matata.

dumpin on you hatin ass dogs with that wah wah wah

One thing I've come to notice in my two and a half weeks in Conshohocken is that everywhere I walk Winston, every single block, with no exceptions, there is a dog, or more, either sittin on a porch, in a fenced in backyard, or sittin in an open window, just watching the sidewalks, waiting for another dog to walk by. So they can hate on em. I have not seen a dog in this town that does not bark at any other dog that walks by. And of course, being as restless as my pup is, he gets all bent outta shape about it, and gets uppity. For me at least, it seems like all the inside and caged up dogs, its like they're hating on him. Every single time, with no fail, I am instantly reminded of the Chappelle show skit, the player haters ball. Just about a bunch of dudes standing around hatin on everybody else. And since Winnie is as fly as he is, they hate on him even more.
Every single time i just tell him, dont worry about it homie, their just mad cus your stylin on em. I almost wish there was a website that made doggy Jordans, so he can be that much more fly. But instead if I'm really feeling good, I try to coax him into taking a dump right their in their yard, when there's nothing they can do about it but yap. Sadly, nothing makes me happier then when he complies. There is not much that feels better then shittin on those hatin ass dogs. So without further ado, the Hater's Ball. Hate hate hate hate hate.

Kiss my ass you rotten motha fuckas.

someone come sex mutombo

Dikembe Mutombo born Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo has finally retired today, after a season/career ending knee injury in the playoffs against the Trail Blazers last night. And thus ends a legacy of domination. 18 seasons of shot blocking and finger waving. I gotta say, I'll miss the big dumb bastard, even though I've had a love hate relationship with him his entire career. His greatest seasons being with the Nuggets, I could only watch in horror at my grandparents house as the #8 seed nuggets knocked out my beloved #1 seed sonics in the first round of the 94 playoffs, falling to the ground clutching the ball with and crying with joy. It would only continue from there winning defensive player of the year award something like 4 more times. Just menacing my western teams.

Once he moved out east they I began to appreciate him for what he truly was. 7 feet and 2 inches of Congolese trash talking beauty. His finger waving became a staple after every single block he got, which was something like 400 blocks in his career, second only to the hall of famer and equally beloved Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon. Known for his bullying elbows on the floor, he'll also be rememberd for his humanitarian work off-court. Well known for his work with the UNDP and building a brand new hospital in Congo, he really did have a heart made of gold.

So after 18 seasons big fella, of shot blocking, elbow swinging, and finger waving fury, my hat's off to you pal. My bridge to early 90's basketball is slowly crumbling with your loss.

Cap town

So i went to see kyle in DC over the weekend while my roommates soaked up the arizona sun. all in all it was a phenomenal experience. Friday night I met up with him and his aussie friend elliot and pounded a couple pitchers of margaritas for happy hour. afterwards we drank some more at kyle's place that has an awesome view of the capital from his roof, so we got drunk and then went to a bar to dance.

Saturday consisted of a pretty intense hangover coupled with an amazing tour of the eastern market and national mall. kyle happened to ruin a tourist's photo by flexing as we walked by, so we made it our duty the rest of the day to ruin any and all photos being taken. I dont know if you've ever been to DC but there is never not a picture being taken, so it was a full time job flexing, scowling, bending over and grabbing crotches in the background. I believe it's safe to say, though, that we ruined many a memory all while enjoying the monuments and memorials personally. Later that night we took a breather with some mighty boosh viewing, which I have been noticing lately, never gets old. Eventually we met up with a mutual friend kyle and i shared from iowa city, Ilse. she has a pretty dope pad in a part of town named soggy bottoms, or some spongebob squarepants sounding town. I think between 6 or 7 people we enjoyed about 7 or 8 bottles of wine, as well as some beer and i believe whisky. needless to say we got drunk and shouted at bros 10 stories below us, and ran around peeing and dancing all over the roof. kyle barfed, we both stained clothes with wine, but all in all it was a fantastic night.

the next day we went back down to the mall to check out the earth day festivities and watched hippies make asses of themselves, which turns out is extremely fulfulling. we took in a free showing of the flaming lips which was pretty bitching, then ate some mexican food and went back to kyle's to check out some more boosh with kyle's afghani friend mustafa, that i later dubbed brohammed. He was pleased.

All in all my DC experience was pretty crucial. The city had a very small town, iowa city type feel, but had all the benefits of being a big city, with the very laid back, extremely friendly atmosphere. In fact I couldn't stop commenting about how nice EVERYONE seemed to be. Defintely a city I'm gonna have to visit often. It was good to reunite with Kyle and rehash our old jackass ways, while meeting new friends and having great times in an awesome new town.

Crucial.

on top of the money

Photobucket

It would only make sense that the first post of my blog would be about hip hop, and more importantly about one of the young rappers that have been monopolizing my playlists for what seems like the last year or two. Curren$y's new album,'This Aint No Mixtape' drops 4/21 exclusively on his website. I haven't been this excited about an album in probably ever. I haven't bought music in probably 6 or 7 years, but I think I'll actually purchase this one. I already know it'll be that good. Let me park my plane right there. Leave the keys with that bitch.
